                                                                              Life of Padre Pio
   First years of his life
Francesco Forgione was born in Pietrelcina (Bn) the 25th of May 1887 from Grazio Forgione and Maria Giuseppa Di Nunzio. The day after was baptized.Francesco reveal since first years a depp respect for holy places, refusing to play in fronto of the church of sant'Anna where he used to play with his friends. His suffering was manifested with cry, when Gesus was offended by other friends.
Children playng annoyed him, so that he prefer to be alone , spending time with his "friend" Gesù. Due to his devotion,when only 5 years, in Sant'Anna appears the Sacro Cuore di Gesù which tells him that like his devotion. In the same church he receive another 2 sacraments: communion and confirmation. Soon, past the wondeful apparitions, Francesco discover even evil apparitions who try to obstruct whith his mission of soul salvation. Francesco dont fear the evil and soon leanr to serve celebration.His life proceed in the awe of God and often love to spend his time absorbed in the silence of the nature, in wich he found the inspiration to write scholastic books: "tutti i contadini erano sparsi per le campagne ed anche i pastori uscivano con i loro greggi. Gli usignoli pianamente entro le macchie cinguettavano. Qua si sentivano belare le pecore, là si vedevano saltellare agnelletti. Francesco meets Fra Camillo
With the growth, Francesco feel ever stronger the wish to devote himself to the God, and he understand that is his way when he meets with Fra Camillo. Fra Camillo was a friar of the convent of Morcone who was uset to reach Piana Romana for the alms collection. Francesco is attracted from the tick beard of the friar and soon relate his parents the will to be friar.
Parents were proud of their son decision, beeng devotional religious, but suggested him the coventry of Paduli. Francesco refuses parents proposal, he doese not want to go to the Paduli's coventry, because there friars are'nt bearded , but only to Morcone could became friar like he disire.."friar with beard ". Before enter the coventry Francesco had still good visions : Jesus, Virgin Mary and her guardian angel. His soul still young and full of desire to discover the rest of the world is not completely serene and, to aggravate the state of his soul, there are the continuous manifestations of the evil, again wich he must fight. Francesco is strong and faithful to his vocation to Jesus. So that after the notice of being admitted to the Morcone's coventry and after had fighted the pain of leave his mother, enter officially in the friar's coventry.

Departure to the Convent of Morcone
6th of January 1903: Francesco, after hail his mother and after have had her blessing, goes to the convent of Morcone. When arrived is received by Fra Camillo who invite him to enter to visit the convent and replenish his's energy by eating drinking and resting . For a week Francesco is able to practice timetable as favour; but after he is imposed to spend a week of absolutely silent to empty of himself and refill himself of God.
Thus following the Spiritual Exercises Francesco prepares the clothing of Franciscan habit. Is the 22 January 1903 when Francesco after having filled with the greatness of God dress the habit and changes its name in Padre Pio of Pietrelcina.

The transverberazione
In March 1918 to Padre Pio has a diagnose of broncus-alveolus which admit him to be rejected from military conscription and move definitively to S. Giovanni Rotondo. In August of the same year he has an apparition: an entity pierce his hearth with a lance and cause him a wound that bleed for ever. this is called the transverberazione.
In September of the same year the same character the reappears pours blood and it is precisely that moment that Father Pio received the stigmata:real signs of the Passion of Christ. Receives the stigmata to hands, feet and cost; that will until his death (23 Settembre 1968) when these disappear.

The opera of Padre Pio
the 9th of January 1940 Padre Pio begins his opera in S. Giovanni Rotondo: the hospital "Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza"(House Relief Of Pain). First stone blessed by Padre Pio will be posed only after 6 years. The works last 10 years and, the 5th of May 1956 will be inaugurated the finished opera of Padre Pio (the crowd in that occasion was of almost 15.000 people).
1957 Pius XII appointment Father Pio director to life of the Fraternity of the Third Order Franciscan "S. Maria delle Grazie" and will be the director of the House relief of suffering.

Last years of Padre Pio
the 25th of April 1959 Padre Pio fall ill. The 1st of the same year is consecrated the new church of S. Maria delle Grazie. The day after the cardinal Federico Tedeschini crown the picture of the Holy Virgin. In August the statue of Madonna of Fatima stops to S. Giovanni Rotondo for 2 days and Padre Pio heal mysteriously. 11 may 1964 Father Pio appointment the Holy See single heir of its assets. From 29 March 1968 Father Pio begins to use the wheelchair to travel. 20 September of the same year, they love, with a solemn Mass, the 50 th anniversary of the gift of stigmata, and many rush the faithful. Is the 22 September, when Father Pio celebrates his last mass. Are the 2:30 of 23th of September 1968 when Father Pio gives its last words: "Jesus and Mary".
The solemn funeral is held to the presence of 100.000 people about and 27 September is open the crypt where he deposited the tomb of the Father and has since beginning the pilgrimage of the faithful that continues today.

Canonizzation of Padre Pio
the 18th of December 1997 in Vaticano is published the Decretum Super Virtutibus and is Papa Giovanni Paolo II who confer to Padre Pio the title of "Venerabile". the 2nd of may 1999 the same Papa Giovanni Paolo II proclame Padre Pio "Beato". the 16th of june 2002,after had recognized to the Beato Padre Pio the merit of had miraculously healed different people, Papa Giovanni Paolo II in Piazza S. Pietro declare Saint the Beato Padre Pio from Pietrelcina the 23th of september.
